Dental Fillings Treatment
Filling treatment is a dental treatment method applied to restore the functionality and appearance of the tooth when it is decayed, fractured or otherwise damaged. In this treatment, the damaged tissue is removed and the cavity is filled with a special filling material. The filling process aims to prevent further damage and restore chewing function by preserving the natural structure of the tooth.
The main materials we use in Private Bornova Tanı Dental Polyclinic in filling treatment are as follows:
Composite Filling
These fillings, which are white or close to tooth color, are often preferred for aesthetic purposes. It is especially preferred for front teeth because it provides a natural appearance. They are easy to apply and are usually completed in one session.
Amalgam Filling
This silver-colored filling is durable and long-lasting, but is generally preferred more for the back teeth due to aesthetic concerns.
Ceramic or Porcelain Filling
These fillings are more durable than composite fillings and offer an aesthetic appearance as they closely resemble the color of the tooth. However, they are relatively more costly and may require several sessions to complete.
Glass Ionomer Filler
This filling, which is especially preferred in children, protects the tooth against decay by releasing fluorine. Its durability is lower than composite or amalgam fillings, so it is generally not preferred on large tooth surfaces.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Filling Treatment:
Filling treatment offers an aesthetic solution while quickly restoring the function of the tooth. However, the lifespan of the filling varies depending on the type and quality of the material used and the oral and dental care practiced by the person in his/her daily life.
